LED lighting: comparing real product specifications

Four KAITO products show how to compare LED-strip and industrial-lighting specifications: supply voltage, power, luminous flux and emergency operation.

LED strips: from watts per metre to total load

The R3528192280 LED strip lists 24 V DC, 19.2 W/m, 1560 lm/m and a 5 m reel. The nominal power of the full reel is 19.2 × 5 = 96 W. This is a load calculation, not a complete power-supply recommendation. Selection must also follow manufacturer requirements and account for the complete installation.

Normal output and emergency output

The FL7556H2 lists 56 W, 6100 lm, 4000 K and IP65. The FL7556H2 (EM) emergency version also lists 6100 lm on mains power, but 300 lm for 3 hours in emergency mode. Normal luminous flux is therefore not the emergency luminous flux.

Comparing different models

The SAT12S-H-15-50 lists 50 W, 8100 lm, 4000 K, IP65 and a length of 1480 mm. The FL7556H2 is 1500 mm long. These figures help compare products, but they do not replace lighting design or installation planning for a project.
